Found this really interesting website called, "Fuelly" (click here) where you can track your mileage and see how it compares to others driving the same year and model. Take a look and see what you think.

21.6 mpg for a 2012 RAV4 is less than I expected, I get 24.4 but drive easy and with a light load. My dash gauge estimate is always at least 1 mpg more than actual consumption and I don't know why. I gas up mostly at the same station and always stop at the first click, then I divide the actual miles driven by the gallons pumped and it always stays around 24.4, however, it does get at least 1 mpg more in the summer months. Anyway, fuelly is a neat site, thanks for posting it!

Some of the listings don't include their engine size and I guess you sort of have to just guess, but it's hard to tell, except for city driving which I've found is quite a bit less for the V6 compared to the I4

Yes, I've used Fuelly and logged every mile since day 1 on the RAV.

Several folks here use Fuelly. I'm not one to give a damn how my mpg compares to someone else's but I do keep track of it. A big drop in mpg got me away from Valero fuel so keeping track can alert you to possible problems or poor quality fuel. I only fill up once a month so it's pretty easy to keep track of.
