As for the seat folding mechanism, well Honda stole that idea from Toyota. The RAV4 has had that feature since 2006.

Three years ago I was on the fence between the CR-V and the RAV4. After seeing how complex it was to tumble and fold the rear seats on the CR-V and feeling the power of the V-6, I was sold on the RAV4.

The new CR-V has a special compartment for your wife's purse, and a little fold down mirror to keep an eye on the kids. I'm sure she'll love it.

As for the styling of the new CR-V, from some angles it looks good, but not from the front. Yuck!!

I did not know the RAV4 had the automatic rear seat folding feature. When I tried it last weekend it not work as intended. The head rest kept on getting caught up on the front passenger or drivers seat. Do the RAV4's rear headrest suppose to fold automatically also when you pull on the folding latch? The CRV's headrest folded automatically and I did not have any problems using the automatic feature. Here is a video of what I just tried to describe.

Does the RAV4 do that? I have never heard of this feature in the RAV4 so I was not aware of it.

Styling is subjective. Everyone likes and dislikes any car out there. I personally like the CRV's front but dislike the rear of the car. But its growing on me. Its for my wife so I just want the most reliable and fuel efficient small ute out there so that is why its either the RAV4 or CRV. Again I don't care about power for this car, If I want power I can go ahead and take out my M3 for a ride.

Here's the thing....The RAV seat(s) folded in one pull of the handle until Toyota made the rear headrests larger in 2010 or 2011. Now the headrest are in the way so it is not as handy as the Honda in this regard. If the headrests can be changed out with the smaller ones they used to use the rear seats plop right into place.

Here's a video that demonstrates how easy it is to fold down the seats on a 2011 RAV4. Note: this RAV4 has the original low-profile headrests like most of them out there:
