Default Wait for 2012?

Just joined the site, and I'm planning on buying my first RAV4 (Limited, V6) soon. My local dealers are pushing the 2011 model but it seems the 2012 will be much better in terms of audio/navigation options. No longer needing to choose JBL upgraded audio OR navigation would be nice. I know the 2012 is a refresher vs. a redesign year so I'm not expecting exterior changes. Is anyone else in the same boat, thinking of waiting a few months for the 2012? Also, any insider tips or rumors about a release date?

Interesting, it looks like there are only 2 audio options available in the 2012, the base system and the Entune system. The base system now has Bluetooth for phone and streaming audio. No mention of 6-disc changers, JBL or 9 speaker systems.

STANDARD AUDIO SYSTEM
• AM/FM CD player with MP3/WMA playback capability, six speakers, auxiliary audio jack, USB port
with iPod® connectivity, auto sound leveling, hands-free phone capability, phone book access and
music streaming via Bluetooth® wireless technology.

Limited
• Display Audio with Navigation and EntuneTM - includes 6.1-in. touch-screen with integrated backup
camera display, AM/FM CD player with MP3/WMA playback capability, six speakers, SiriusXM Satellite
Radio (includes 90-day trial subscription to XM Select Package), HD RadioTM with iTunes® Tagging,
auxiliary audio jack, USB port with iPod® connectivity and control, vehicle information with
customizable settings, hands-free phone capability, phone book access, advanced voice recognition,
text-to-speech with programmed and customizable text responses, and music streaming via Bluetooth®
wireless technology.

That's good to hear.

I read about it here on this forum.

I remember what you are talking about. That was all speculation when we all thought the 2012 would be the redesigned model. However, it was pushed back.

Basically with the push to smaller engines, the speculation was that the V6 will be replaced by a turbo charged 4-cyl, which many manufacturers are doing to reduce emissions.

Hey Guys, I'm new here also and looking to purchase a RAV4 in the next month. My dealer says the 2012 models will be out in Feb. I had heard there might be minor body style changes, but doesn't look like it. Do ya'll think Toyota will discount the 2011's when the 2012's hit the market? Is it worth waiting? Thanks to all, there is a wealth of good info here.

I'll answer my original question now: Yes, I'm going to wait for the 2012. But based on today's press release, I'll only have to wait until tomorrow!

All 2012 RAV4 models will feature a new standard audio system that’s equipped with hands-free phone capability, phone book access and music streaming via Bluetooth® wireless technology, while the Limited Grade will offer an available Display Audio with Navigation and Entune™. The optional system includes a 6.1-inch touch-screen, AM/FM CD player with MP3/WMA playback capability, six speakers, SiriusXM Satellite Radio (includes three-month trial subscription to XM Select Package), HD Radio™ with iTunes ® Tagging, auxiliary audio jack, USB port with iPod® connectivity and control, hands-free phone capability, phone book access, advanced voice recognition, and music streaming via Bluetooth wireless technology.

And the same crappy speakers, no doubt.

I guess if the speakers are really that bad, then they'll just have to be replaced.
