Default SPY PICS: 2014 Rav4

MotorAuthority Link

Quote:
In late 2010, Toyota revealed its RAV4 EV prototype, which will enter limited series production in the second half of this year. It will be a short run for the regular RAV4 as well, however, as a new model is due in early 2014.

Shown in these spy shtos, it will share the same basic proportions with the current RAV4, but with some notable tweaks to its shape, especially up front. The hood and fenders at the nose appear to be quite a bit taller than the current model, likely in response to pedestrian safety regulations.

At the rear, the tail lights of the new model now extend onto the liftgate, though many of the other details remain the same, including the lower reflectors and the location of the tailpipe. A roof-mounted spoiler similar to the current RAV4 is also visible. While the rear-most window is covered in the prototype's spy shots, it will likely keep the upward kick of the current model as well.
As for what's under the hood, it will likely be an extension of the current model range, including both four-cylinder and V-6 versions, though updates to the engines may offer better fuel economy or power. The RAV4 EV will likely stick around as well, though again, in very limited production--not more than 2,500 units per year initially.

I hate to think what Toyota is going to charge (tongue in cheek) for the EV.

Not seeing anything I am too impressed with. I was hoping they were going to hit one out of the park.

Those pictures make me think Rx from the rear (rear lamps, spoiler), Highlander from the front (headlamps) and Avensis from the side (front fenders). The masked grill looks like older generation Outlander where the "nose" is popping out.
