I've heard a lot of interest in turbo diesels.. The Mazda CX5 may get one too, but it will probably only be in Europe for the next year or so.

How noisy are they?

I wouldn't buy the 2013 in preference to keeping my 2011 V6. The 2013 Toyota 4-banger has less power than my wife's 2010 CRV, which is barely adequate for the upgrade mountain road passing power needed in much of our driving environment. Painful though it would be to contemplate I would likely rather have the Ford Escape 2.0L Ecoboost.

The D4-D is actually pretty quite unless you really step on it. I know this because I lived in Africa and over there most Toyota trucks and suv's are diesel. I used to own an 06 landcruiser Prado 3.0 (non turbo) diesel and the noise was ok. Engine only used like 8liters per 100km which is very good mileage for a full size suv. It was also a Sahara edition with 2 full tanks which got me 2000km when u filled her up. Toyota's are so nice (features & options) outside the USA.

No because of the lack of a V6 option buy, I do like the rear hatch.

Make no mistake, the diesels pull like a train with no effort at all. However, the UK prices have just been announced and at the current exchange rates you are looking at $36,152 to $46,872 for the top of the range diesel.

Well looks like the Rav 4 V6 wins hands down.
I agree, choices for 3 and 4 are practically the same, you can just add them together. I wanted to add something like "I like the design, but they dropped the V6", but clicked the submit button too quickly.

Thank you for participating!

Default Very Disappointed

I bought my Rav4 Limiteds because they had V6 power, good gas mileage, 4WD, easy access to the full size spare tire, under the floor storage, and a unique look. The 2013's look like every other boring crossover now. Maybe I will find a good 2012 Limited. After that, I guess I'm done with the Rav4. I'm very disappointed. What were they thinking?

I was waiting for the 2013 - to ideally get a V6 mated to a 6 speed tranny with the dealer installed tow package. Really disappointed in Toyota's castration of the Rav4. It is now simply another CRV, period. I decided to start looking for a closeout on a 2012 V6 limited. It's got what I want in a small SUV, and nobody else makes anything comparable. What a shame!!

Would definitely not buy one, far too much of a mommy mobile. It looks like this 4th gen will not live up to its name "Recreationally Active Vehicle". A total pavement princess
