To summarize it the new Rav 4 offers :
1 Lower ground clearance
2 No sliding back seat
3 Less back seat leg room
4 Less hp
5 Slower acceleration
6 No engine option
7 Less towing capacity with no V6
8 Higher price (assumption on my part)

Heep,Heep, Hooray.
"Slower acceleration"
Not necessarily for the four-cylinder version. Should be quicker with the new 6 speed automatic.

Your assumption might be correct. I am also thinking about the #8, they've added few things like blind spot monitor and lane departure, and added more noise insulation which will increase the price.

I am thinking the base model will be about $23300, but all these new innovative techno options will be a separate package available with leather and sunroof only, which will bring the price to about $29000.

Majority of people, in this market segment, don't care about the power, so the 4 cyl. engine will be just enough to go around town. A lot of people buy into the amenities, and the power + amenities+design is apparently too much for Toyota this time.

I guess with sliding rear door it could take on Mazda 5 .
Now I'm really upset.

Looks like the price will be $24,145 for a two-wheel drive LE.
Then add $1,400 on top of that for all-wheel drive.
2013 Toyota RAV4 Review by Jennifer Geiger

Well, another site claims the price will be $23,300 for the base LE. I think they just copied the price from my post #12 of this thread, LOL.

11. Less back seat width (3.5 inches less hip room! 5 passengers, really?)
12. 1 inch less head room, front and rear
13. 75 lbs heavier than equivalent 2012 model
14. Silly looking overbitey fangs in front (for colors other than black. Vampire car?)
15. Misc. other things found in this fairly detailed article published today: 2013 Toyota RAV4 [w/video] First Drive

Toyota are duty bound to follow emmission reduction philosophy as part of future policies and V6s simply don't fit in.

There's enough of you to make them sit up and listen. There should be a way in to Toyota for a R4W spokesperson to deliver a petition.

Tell them you must have your V6. You might not get it but they may consider a bigger 4 cylinder or even one of the readily available high powered diesels.
