May be that makes TechStream even more valuable.

Yes, I'm sure the radio upgrades have to be by toyota for the RAV, either the Nav upgrade or the Nav/JBL, both pricy. I can't imagine how others would be able to provide such an interface equivalence.
Also your ventilation/ac/heat selections show up on the radio display screen for a few seconds, as do certain helpful items on an upgraded radio like real time tire pressure (not on base radio). This officially puts the aftermarket radios out of the RAV4 business, imho. |

A ton of controls are done via the radio. Everything from your basic sound settings, rear/front control to actual car info MPG data and various minor car settings. Replacing the head unit you would actually lose some car features that are pretty cool

Sorry, I did read it and checked on my vehicle (XLE). Yes the Limited has the auto on/off,but the XLE has neither. There is also no option to change that in the on-screen options. You can adjust the daytime running lights and locking options, but not the headlights. I am sure you can in the Limited but not on the XLE and I assume the LE

I tried that and it does not work. I also checked the Toyota website today and the brochure is different from the one you posted above. Maybe production line changes or regional differences?

pweezil: No i have base radio; i saw this in the manual with an * (if installed) by it and assumed the top of the line radio has it. Supposed to hit 'car' or whatever the button says and go into 'setup' and it (tpms) would appear as a touch-screen option to display the individual tires. Sorry. One thing you can try, is engine off, foot OFF the brake, hit the start button twice to power up the electronics, and then see if the radio gives the option.
Also, the TPMS in the book talks about a 'button' for reset, which as been removed. Now I assume the system just monitors and tells a light to come on if a tire is low- don't know. ALso to All: It looks like auto-off lights has been deleted? Maybe only on the early JT vin nos vs. 2T???? But the brochure is different... This sux if it has cause it basic battery-rundown protection!!!! |

My 2012 is mica pyrite too, and I love the way it changes color from sort of grey to brown as the light changes.
The OEM Pioneer nav in my car does not show any of the vehicle information or tpms functions. There is no reason it couldn't; it is bluetooth, but it doesn't. Glad to hear some of the 2013's do. With the exhorbitant prices Toyota charges for the nav system I doubt the aftermarketers will go away any time soon.
