You can sue Toyota and the EPA for getting 1-2mpg less than the sticker. Are you crazy enough to do that?

let me clarify 20-21 is my combined mpg and 27 mpg was one straight drive 99 % highway drive of 145 miles. filled up before and after, average speed kept at 65-70

Virtually all highway, some interstate at 75 mph, some interstate at 70 mph and some state highways at 65 or 70 mph speed limits, and we drive the limit plus a couple of mph when we can.
I would guess average mph was 60 - 65, probably on the high end? We felt as though we made good time. I don't drive it in town, my wife does, and she fuels it up so I have no feel for intown mpg.

hi all, I'm new to the group.

I have a 2017 Rav4 XLE FWD. I live in BC, Canada. I've gone through 5 tanks now and I'm getting extremely poor mileage. On average, after about 330km (205 miles) then my fuel light will come on. My average fuel consumption is 12.7L/100km, that works out to 18.5 MPG. This number is no where near the poorest score in this thread. I do about 90% city and 10% highway of driving. I realize that driving mostly in city will not get any good numbers. But still, my numbers are unbelievably bad.
I've tried ECO and Normal modes, but it didn't make much difference. And I consider myself as an easy driver so I never floor it.

This is my first Toyota and I'm very disappointed. I'm also a little concern because I was under the impression that Toyota vehicles should have decent on gas.

Should I be worry? Is there something wrong with my 2 months old car?

Thanks../Ken

I have the same problem too though not as bad as yours. I blame the snow and cold. Too much idling and not moving.

Summer in City/hwy combine, 6.2-7.4 lit/100 km
In snow/cold since Dec. 8.6-9.2 lit/100 km
Getting the car warm (auto temp) and the heated seat keeps ICE running using more fuel. Stopped in snowbound stuck traffic didn't help either.

@butt thanks, that's pretty close to the specs. A hybrid Rav4 might be my next choice.

If you're also in lower mainland BC, a Hybrid is a good choice with our traffic and gas price. It'll cost more to buy, not exciting to drive but driveablity in all weather, comfort and Toyota's reputation in built quality especially in Hybrid decide for me.
