Reading the owner's manual, Toyota states that the lane change 3 flash feature can be customizable for either the default 3 flash or can be disabled altogether by the dealer. Watching Toyota's own video, the actress says that the dealer can customize the flashes to 3, 5, or 7. Obvious discrepancy here. Anyone customize their flasher feature?
Here's the video. Click on the one touch 3 flash video under "interior features". How-To Auto Care and Maintenance Videos for your Toyota

Page 583 here: http://www.toyota.com/t3Portal/docum.../sec_08-02.pdf
This pdf has changed. I remember reading it about 2 weeks ago and didn't save it (saved a few of the others to google drive) but it used to allow you to change the lane change number of signals from 3,5,7 or off. Now it appears to be off or 3 only. Also, this was a dealer customization feature only before and it looks like it still is. I know I saw it in the manual previously with the extra signal options...My best guess would be to take it to the dealer if you really want to see if it can be done. |

Short of phoning Toyota tech support I would guess that the pdf from the current manual trumps the actress in the video. That video was likely shot well before the manual was available. Thanks.

Hmm, maybe I thought it I saw it after seeing the video as well :-)
5 seems like it would be a better default though, at least for how I typically signal. Been paying more attention to it driving to work this week. |

Hey guys I don't know if it matters but I bought a limited today and the blinkers will flash until you turn the other direction, so in other words its just like any other vehicle. Wouldn't stop on 3 blinks.

Hmm, even if you only press the lever to about 1/3 or so of its stroke? There should be a position just before it locks in the 'on' position and unlocks after you've completed your turn. It is intended for lane changes I believe. I drove the XLE this weekend and I'm pretty sure it did this just fine, but I will admit I was mostly just so impressed with the ride quality and smoothness of the drive train that I probably wouldn't have noticed if that feature wasn't working.
Congrats on your new Rav by the way! |

I confirm it works as described, just press the lever to about 1/3 and it blinks three times. Useful when changing lanes. I use it often already.
