I've driven the new XLE twice now and each time at the dealer I've forgotten to look closely at the bumpers to see if they have the little circle sensors that other cars have for letting you know how close you are to a wall or object while parking. I know it has the backup camera and that's great, but my bro-in-law's 2012 4Runner has the sensors and the beeping that gets faster as the distance gets less is quite nice for parking in a tight garage.
Could anyone tell me if the XLE has these sensors or if this is something that's only on the Limited once you get the BSM and cross traffic alert systems? Section 4-5 p.253 of the manual talks about the parking sensors. But simply puts an "*" and says if equipped. Thanks! |

no sensors. just lines on the screen for the back up camera to guage your distance.
there's a red line that shows up, i dont think you want to go past that. but i haven't tested that out yet

Yeah, I guess sensors in the rear wouldn't really be of any help when you have a camera, or little help anyways. I guess I'd be more interested in front sensors for parking in garages downtown where you want to be sure to get the rear of the car all the way in so it's still there when you come back! Too bad. Probably take just a few weeks after getting it to really learn where the front is and get used to parking it the old fashioned way. Thanks!

The limited model doesn't have parking sensors either. I have the basic Limited model. The Limited with the technology package has 'Rear Cross Traffic Alert' which basically alerts you about any obstacles while you are reversing. Maybe parking sensors are part of this alert system.
The red line basically shows the closest you can park it to for example your garage wall without hitting the lift gate when you open it. |
