sb.scorecardresearch.com slows down my computer

Is seem like every time I visit Rav4World.com a message stating "waiting for sb.scorecardresearch.com. appears and lingers for 10 seconds before anything happens. This message also repeats itself again and again as I surf through Rav4World.com. It is very annoying and intrusive, can it be eliminated ?

I don't have any such message, at least not so far. Maybe it's something to do with your browser setup? Doesn't appear to be related to your internet security. Can you find out what that web site is and disable or block it?

RAV4World connects to several web sites before displaying the page you are expecting. Some of these sites bring up the ads you see, and others collect information for the site sponsors to determine what kind of exposure the site is getting.

If one of these websites is not available for some reason, your browser will wait for a short time, before giving up and moving on. Since you seem to be the only one having the problem, you need to see if you PC has trouble reaching sb.scorecardresearch.com.

I suggest you open up a Command prompt on your PC, and type
NSLOOKUP sb.scorecardresearch.com
You should get the Address: 23.33.91.120 returned.
You should also be able to type
PING sb.scorecardresearch.com
and verify that you get a reply from the site.

There is also a very good chance that clearing your browser cache and cookies will resolve the problem.

I can give more detailed info if I know what version of Windows you are using, and what browser your are using.

I didn't try the suggestion, because my PC connects to the scorecard site so quickly, that I wouldn't be able to tell if there were any changes.

The problem is that the HTML source code for RAV4world.com, is instructing your browser to connect to the scorecard site. You can see this yourself if you "right click" inside the browser and select "view source" ( the actual wording may vary depending on your browser). Once you are looking at the HTTP source, type CTRL-F ( to find), and then enter "scorecard". You will find that it runs a Javascript called BEACON.

If the removal instructions work as described, all they will do is tell the website not to collect any data from your PC when you connect to the site. Adding a new cookie will not prevent your browser from connecting to the site in the first place because Rav4world is instructing it to do so. If for some reason your PC cannot connect to the site, you will still have the slowdown while your PC waits for the connection.

If the OP can prove that his PC has trouble connecting to the site, then there are other solutions like adding an entry to the HOST table, which redirects the request back to his own PC (loopback IP=127.0.0.0), or checking the Windows firewall to see if scorecard.com has been blocked.
