Same issues here.....good resolution!
Quick note to everyone on this thread
Thank you very much for the information
2001 RAV4...similar symptoms as everyone else, same dealer dead ends, same transmission replacement quote of $3500.....
Decided I would try a $300 fix before deciding to double my investment in the vehicle
Used Module Repair Pro in Van Nuys, CA - had them ship me a replacement ECM, did the swap in 10 minutes
Vehicle still a little sticky on the shifting, but the overdrive is back, shifting perfectly from 1-2, no skips no missing, have driven about 50 miles so far and it's a completely different car!!
After returning my core, total will be about $240 for the entire fix and didn't even have to have the vehicle sidelined. If you;re not mechanically inclined, I would suggest having a replacement ECM sent and your local mechanic put it in - there was no VIN info needed. This was literally a 10 minute job
Module Repair Pro did a fantastic job (and I'm sure the Bronx guys and the NC guys are just as good) and I really do appreciate everyone's feedback on this issue
