First off, thank you to all that post, I have learned more about the Rav than I thought possible.
Which leads me to my two part question. The tach shows a redline of 6200 rpm, however it really strains past 3500. Is this normal? Could it be an ignition problem? I'm worried at interstate speeds (75mph) I might be harming the engine holding at 3300 rpm.
Would installing an aftermarket ignition system (ie MSD-SCI) fix this?
My Rav is FWD, M/T, and has 169000 on the odometer, very well taken care of (parents bought new in '96), it did sit idle for a couple of years after they purchased a Highlander. During its hiatus it was started and ran for 20 min, a week.
