Exclamation loud knock in front left wheel

i have a 95 manual rav4. i have a very loud (like someone banging on a door) knocking noise coming from the front left wheel area when i turn.
i have changed the shocks, wheel bearings, struts, universals and have taken the tire off multiple times to try and locate the noise but as soon as there is no weight it does not make the sound.
does any one have any ideas what eles could be making the noise?

cheers

Has your tyre been aligned?
Is your shock new or a used one? Which brand and make?
Has someone checked the axles?
Are your mounts in good shape?
Pictures for sure will help identify any possible issues. A video will do even more wonders.

That was my initial thought too, having had a similar knock on a hard turn with a 1968 Mini a long time ago.

Not sure if the RAV CV joint has a boot does it?

How frequent is the sound ? Alot of people are talking about CV joints/axles... When those have dried up and gone bad, I have usually heard them make constant clicking noises upon turns... Other than inspecting the boots, you could have a local shop or mechanic inspect them to see...

I had a knocking type noise, which would sound like it was around the front fender area (similar to if you used your knuckles to knock on the fender)... It wasn't constant, it would just happen at random, don't remember if was over certain type of bumps or turns it was so long ago... Anyways, it ended up being one of the stabilizer links. I don't know if it's a bushing or bearing that can go bad on them, either way after it was replaced, the knocking sound was gone...

Don't know if that's you're problem but it's a possibility...

Don't know if you have a 2dr or 4dr, but it's #19 in the picture:

Hope you find what the issue is... Update the thread after you find out what it is...

If you found an alignment place with a good reputation that has been doing wheel alignments wheel alignments without the computerized devices, I would consider asking them for a diagnosis. They are probably going to be a lot more able in that area than a place with a fancy computerized alignment machine run by high school kids.
