Cruise control NOT working?

My cruise control is not working and hasn't since i bought it. Never really thought to fix it, but now i do...What step should I take in trying to fix this problem? Thanks

What is the issue? Does the light come on when you turn it on from the stalk?

If not:

Look at the back of the stalk and make sure the internals are there.

There was a TSB on the CC stalk. My first one had the back come off and some of the innards were lost.

I had to use a paper clip to jump the contacts to turn it on.

So yeah i finally noticed the back of the stalk(where the crusie control button is) has an opening for what looked be have a fused placed in it (innards). Nothing is there. So what should I do? Does a fuse go there or what? how do you jump the contacts with a paper clip? what is TSB? i believe i have the same issue

I don't remember exactly how it worked, but my recollection is that pressing the button on the end of the stalk moved a metal prong inside to contact to metal bits, tripping the cruise control on.

I bent a piece of a paper clip into a "U" shape. I pried off the back cover when starting a trip and needing cruise. With the car on and running I would touch the two metal contacts in the stalk with the two end of the U shaped paper clip simultaneously. That would turn on my cruise until the vehicle was shut off and restarted. Then I would have to do it again.

Once the cruise was "on" indicated by the light on the dash, it functioned as normal in term of engaging or disengaging it going down the road.
