hello friends!
the horn on my rav4 isn't working. i find that a non-working horn is a safety hazard! sometimes you have to honk the horn to alert distracted drivers who may run into your rav4! Or back their vehicles into your rav4!

How do I check whether the horn relay is at fault? What do I look for in the relay?

Hello George! Open the hood and get an assistant to push the horn button repeatedly. Listen for the horn relay clicking. You might have to remove the cover on the fuse/relay box to hear it clearly. While you have that cover off it would be a good idea to check the horn fuse. Now, just because the relay is clicking doesn't mean it's good, but it probably is. You can always swap it with another relay to check. Next, you will need a voltmeter or a 12v test lamp to check the wires feeding the horn. You should be able to unplug the connector from the horn and see if you get voltage when the relay clicks. If you do, then the horn itself is bad and needs to be replaced.
