4.2 longevity - love to hear from high mileage owners

Been thinking lately about the longevity of the 2004 AWD AT I own. Got through the stripped head bolt issue now so the top end of the motor is solid and I'm confident about that. It's the other drivetrain components that have me wondering. Would love to hear from owners with high mileage rigs about what they have seen/experienced. Don't forget to note your mileage...

Anyone with 200,000 miles? 250,000 miles? 300,000 miles or more?

Please comment. Thanks.

I have !67,000 miles on mine, no issues with drivetrain. Your question is a good one, I am wondering if I should trade it in on something newer while it is in good shape and worth something or drive it till it is ready for the junk yard like every other vehicle I've owned.

Thanks for the report. I have a friend who is encouraging me to sell it now while in good shape for $8-9K and take the money to buy something newer.
Sure would be nice if more people could check-in who own high mileage 4.2 vehicles. Or maybe they just don't exist.

My 04 has 110,000 miles. One O2 sensor replaced and reg maintenance items. Had the driver side lock actuator problem and I'm sorry I attempted to fix it.

156xxx on the '05. Very impressed with the reliability. Nothing but regular maintenance. The only problem is that the fuel gauge is a bit off. Other than that, as good as new.

Also, what is the head bolt issue??

Garage
Well my '97 RAV 4wd 5sp has 161tmls on it, the exhaust is rusting pretty bad. Replaced the shocks, timing belt, water pump, and brakes recently.

My '04 RAV 4wd 5sp has only 54tmls. Had to replace the rear differental seal. It was weeping a little.

Both run really well though.

Creeping up on 150,000 miles on my 2003.

City driving on weekdays, offroads on weekends, and have taken some very long road trips.

Had computer defect fixed by chkeng
Both front locks only work manually (doesn't bother me much)
Both front sun visors have broken arms (haven't DIY fix yet)

200,000 on an 01 would be averaging 17,000 a year, not unusual, but an 05 would have to average 24,000, that's a lot

I posted !67,00, that should have been 167,000, buying new you take a big hit on depreciation the first year. Mine could easily go another 100,000.

2002 - 147,000 miles. I haven't had it too long(bought it used). Very few things on the carfax(ECM rebuild) but I did have to drop in new stabilizer linkages.
