I just put up a 2005 RVA4 for Roadworthiness and was denied by the local TOYOTA dealer as it was in the batch of RAV4s due for airbag replacement.
The ramifications of this are obvious, that if TOYOTA dealers are refusing to do roadworthiness checks on RAvs etal what will the car yards with these models for sale do?
I see a class action coming on.
I dropped my price $1000 and sold the RAV4 into South Australia where there are no RWC rules but fact is if Toyota are refusing RWC and cant supply airbags until 2016, then its a serious issue.
They told me they would not disable the airbags as that would constitute an unacceptable risk to the driver, as compared with being hit in the head by shrapnel should the airbag go off.
Estimated 180000 vehicles are affected by the recall
Toyota Australia recalls 181000 vehicles
