2000 Rav4.2 2.0 VVTi 4x4 3dr 130000 miles:
- O2 sensor - breake pads, oil, filters etc. 2002 Rav4.2 2.0 d4d 4x4 5dr 210000 miles: - clutch - flywheel - water pump - comonrail fuel pump - breake fluid pump - valve cover gasket - intercooler - turbo is ending now - i'm waiting when my injectors will break down - breake pads, oil, filters etc. Repairs cost me more than I paid for my second Rav4. Never diesel engine again ! |

2004 RAV4 AWD 2.4 VVTi Auto 135,XXX miles.....and I pretty much put my foot through the floor every time I accelerate, very minimal maintenance IE oil changes, struts/shocks, tranny fluid, plugs, filters, new oil pan (I bottomed it out and put a gash in it...) brakes, etc.....no complaints, peppy acceleration, stiff handling, responsive steering, good ride comfort, rugged interior..... I really have no complaints about this car other than I miss my "three pedals and a stick" :P....

I own a 99 RAV4 AWD automatic 3SFE, I drive with a heavy foot and usually meet the back end of 5000rpm a couple times a day 150k on the vehicle. And nothing major to speak of. I try and do the best with keeping the drive train in immaculate condition. Need to do a vavle adjustment asap though, still general maintenance thing

We've updated our reliability stats for the RAV4 to include owner experiences through September 30, 2012.
Repair frequencies, in terms of repair trips per 100 cars per year: 2005: 11, very small sample size 2004: 40, very small sample size Both are better than average. We'll have further updates in February and May. We'd love to provide more precise stats and cover all model years--just a matter of getting more owners involved! 2003, manual transmission, owned since new, 159K miles
the vehicle was trouble free, just put gas in and change the oil and air filter until about 140K the last 10K I have had to replace: the serpentine belt ( no surprise) an O2 sensor driver side disc & caliper I did not have to replace front disc pads until about 115K a headlight at about 125k, the other at about 140K Spark plugs were replaced at 130K, but still looked good battery at about 145K vehicle is the most reliable I have ever owned so other than o2 sensor and brakes, no problems |

That is just awesome, I hope I have the same experience. nothing maor thus far for me except replacing the front brake pads at 60,000 KM, its an automatic. I had a 4.1 manual, and I liked it a lot more than this auto, the wife refuses to drive a manual!
