Air Intake

could anyone tell me why i have an air intake on the bonnet of my 05 cruiser. is it purely cosmetic.

Its for your intercooler if you have a Turbo diesel engine, when you drive the cold air wil be forced int to the surface of your intercooler, the meaning of the intercooler is to cool down the air from the turbo to the engine to get greater performance ( cold air good, warm air bad )

Promote airflow under the hood (although not usually the most efficient option).

If it's the same as mine, it is not open to the engine bay and purely cosmetic.

FYI the hoodscoop was a design borrowed from the 5th gen Celica Alltrac. I have one in my garage.
