No, I'm not saying that Chevron gas is garbage, just the use of higher octane gas than necessary. Higher-octane gas is not "better" or "cleaner" gas. It really doesn't even deserve the title "premium" gas. (The only premium is the price that is paid to purchase it.) In fact, there are fewer BTUs in a gallon of "premium" gas than there are in a gallon of "regular" gas. Yep, less energy content, less power by simply adding it to the tank. ![]() Any extra power in an engine comes from higher compression, which heats the incoming mixture more, sometimes igniting the mix before the spark. Higher octane levels resist this heat-induced ignition, making the mix wait for the spark to light it. Higher-octane fuel also burns slower, meaning that you need to advance the spark a few degrees so the fuel is completely burned by the desired point in the crankshaft rotation for maximum power. Simply adding 94- (or 93- or whatever) octane fuel and not making any other changes can tend to form deposits on the valves and in the combustion chambers due to fuel that is not completely burned. I don't know what the octane requirements are for the V-6 RAVs, but I do know that my wife's '02 I-4 gets by just fine with "regular". . |

On the bottle for the fuel system clean where the directions are, it says to pour into an empty tank and fill up
I did it, my friends have done it and we have all noticed a difference. 94 octane is a better grade of gas and chevron is one of the best gas's out there for our cars, its proven. Everyone one of my mechanics suggest to use it and also every car forum I have visited suggest to use it. I can swear by chevrons gas(chevrons 87 is fine) I live in canada and have learned that the USa 87 octane has been watered down and is not good for your engine. When I go to the USa, i fill up with 89 octane as it less diluted with water and I notice a smoother acceleration I used to have a turbo car before my RAV, reg 87 octane made it knock and ping, switching to 94 octane resolved that problem right away Im not saying use 94 octane all the time, the odd once or twice a year does help filter you gas and drives gum and debris away Filling up with chevrons 94 octane and their brand of fuel system cleaner will give you a smoother ride and better gas mileage. All other times, cnd 87 octane is fine

I live in GTA and we just bouth one as well so I tested the gas mileage during the same time as you and got about 450km to my tank 2.4L with regular gas. Our Rav 4 has almost 200K on it so there is definetly soemthing wrong.
One thing I noticed is my wife kept driving with it in 2nd gear thinking it was drive just because of the way our other vehicle's autommatic shifter is laid out. Doubt it but just make sure you are in D and not 2.

Buy or borrow one. Somebody in your web of friends should have one; maybe that should be you. In most places, there are auto parts stores that will loan you one.
