i filled my 2005 2.4L rav which has 56 L gas tank to full; drove typically mixed city/highway and got 330 km's before it was near empty and the gas light came on. this is in canada. thats not very good is it (94k km's on it)

so that's about 205 miles for 14.7 gallons...wow something is pretty off. I know that wintertime = worse gas mileage, but I think you've got bigger problems.

When's the last time you:

changed oil
changed air filter
cleaned out your throttlebody
checked your tire pressure

Check the O2 sensors. My MPG (UK) fell from 30 to 23 when all 4 O2 sensors were knackered.

Wouldn't 02 sensors throw a code if they were fouled?

Tune up should help, but also check to see that your brake pads aren't locked down. That friction drag will destroy your gas mileage.

That's strange.
Usually when I have a full 45L tank I can go 400Km city driving.
I was thinking that if you meant "gas" as in LPG, it'd make sense because they run out faster...but this is probably not the case.

I've heard cases where if the cat converter is dead/dying it affects the MPG.

Default tuneup

the brake pads are not locked down; i let go of the brakes and the car eagerly goes foreward.
today i put in a new air filter and iridium spark plugs. hopefully that will help.
cheers

check your tire pressure

also, pick a bottle of this stuff up at any cheveron, its about 10 or 11.99 a bottle and let me tell you, it WORKS
Amazon.com: Chevron Techron Fuel System Cleaner, 20 oz. (65740): Automotive Amazon.com: Chevron Techron Fuel System Cleaner, 20 oz. (65740): Automotive

wait until empty, pour this stuff in and you may as well fill up with 94 octane at chevron

drive till empty as this wil clean you fuel injectors out

after 2-3 tanks you should be hittin high 300's-low 400km's a tank
