Remote car starter

Has anyone installed a remote car starter in a Rav4? Any info would be great. I am looking to do this in the winter time, as it is nice to climb into a warm vehicle on a cold morning.

How's the water!? I'm in S'toon.

I put a Compustar Pro remote start/alarm system in my Rav last winter. I got most of my wiring info from here:

Toyota Wiring

99% of where you will need to tap into is right under the driver's steering wheel. There is one bundle where you will tap the majority of your wires into and everything else is in close proximity.

Some info I used (I checked every wire with a voltmeter to ensure it was correct):

Sueandroy, let me know how it works out. My dad is looking to get one on his. We have heated seats so that works for me. Any chance you know an Aaron Barlow?

I have one in my RAV4 that was already installed when the car was purchased brand new. I have to keep it outside all year and this past winter, I was sure glad I had it as i watched the snow melt off all of the windows. it also made cleaning the snow off easier.

Hint: An electric heater, while not as effective, is way kinder to the engine, much cheaper to operate and much cleaner. It requires an outlet though, which you might not have available. Then you might want to consider a combustion heater, which is still more economical to operate than the engine, but much more expensive to buy, but also more effient in heating the engine than the electrical alternative.

Yes, I had remote auto start installed.

It cost me $400 installed at the time and it was a Python aftermarket alarm. There are cheaper ways to do it nowadays. It was the most fun mod/accessory I ever got. It was awesome. Funny stories about old ladies seeing it start up and getting really confused.

I also used it during halloween and it spooked the kids.

Back in anticipation of owning a '14 Rav4 after selling my '02 in 2007. Looking forward to being active again in the threads.
