Serpentine belt replacement diagram/instructions please

Hey,
My serpentine belt went the other day. I picked up a new one. Although i cant find a diagram of how its supposed to go. There is no diagram under the hood on the frame of the car. Does anyone have a diagram/ instructions on how to replace it.

Thanks

Joseph

I have a power steering belt, and a belt that does the alternator and ac compressor.

If you have to ask, I would say just take it someplace and have them put the belt on.

I have a friend who was good with cars who is gonna do it. If its too big of a job ill just take it in. He said it sounded like the serpentine belt broke.

I was driving i heard a battleing noise like a bag or something was under my car hitting the ground. I stopped checked and nothing was there. I continued driving a block till i was home and then as i was pulling into my driveway, it snapped. The battery light on my dash went on and, my down steering went. I popped the hood and you can see what was left of a belt. What belt did i break then?

Thanks

Joseph

iirc the alt and a/c run off one belt, and the power steering off another, if one belt broke it could've jammed up the other and snapped it if they got tangled.

they are both standard v-belts and are cheap (your parts supplier can tell you which legnth), change both while you're in there.....
not too hard to do, the a/c /alt belt gets tightened by the alternator adjusting bracket, the power steering pump gets tightened by it's bracket......

you'll want to remove the plastic liner underneath the right side of the rav to gain access to the power steering pump/crank pulley.....it's kinda tight in spots so you need access to this area.....pull the front right wheel off too to make your life easier.

Shoot I'm trying to replace mine right now on my 2002 and yes it's tight but I can't seem to get the tensioner loose. I'll try looking it up else where to see if anyone has any picts on how they did it. I hate to take it in just for a belt change when I have the belt right in hand and it looks fairly straight forward. I did remove the wheel and plastic and it's right there.

I found this answer on wiki answers so I'll go give it a shot.

Here is another link

After futzing with it for way to long I"m just gonna take it in and have someone do it.

You dont really need a diagram, there are 2 belts and they only go on one way. The smaller belt goes from the crank pulley to the power steering pump pulley, and the larger belt goes around the crank pulley, A/C compressor pulley (if equipped), and Alternator pulley.
