Default OBD Query

I have an Australian 2002 rav4 so i assume i have OBD1. I noticed you can get OBD1 to OBD2 converter cables off ebay for the pins. If i get one of these will i be able to use OBD2 scanners? All im really interested in is getting the km/L information.
Thanks!

Not necessarily. If your RAV4 has a 16-pin connector under the dash like the picture shows it is OBDII. Previous to this Toyota used a round connector:

Yes, it looks like you have OBD II! I ordered one of these and it works great with Torque and my Android tablet:

As i live in Australia and would like it posted quickly and dont mind paying an extra $5 or so to reduce shipping from 25 days to 5 days, this would do the trick too wouldnt it?

Yes, that one should work well. If they did sell it in your local store it would be $50 or more!!

Got mine from amazon for about $25. Just make sure you buy one that has good reviews because some of them suck.
