Default V6 prices?

I found a few V6s 2009-2010 with between 50 - 70 thousand miles on the speedometer for $15,000 - $17,000 That seems kind of cheap doesn't it? Is there anything esp. wrong with those years? Because after 2010 I can not find anything with low mileage for under $20,000.

Yea, I am thinking of getting a V6 now because my wife said she wanted to do some trailer camping. :D

You might want to check with Kelley Blue Book about miles, condition, and pricing for those years . . .

It may be due to the dealer being Toyota (fully certified) or not?

In Canada (and maybe in the USA), if the used Toyota vehicle is bought from a non-Toyota dealer (ie Ford, Honda dealer), you aren't able to buy a Toyota power train warranty if the original owner did not. This is the quandary I am in with a Ltd 09 w/37,000 Km I found at a FORD dealership. If the original owner didn't buy the Powertrain I am sh*t outta luck and on my own wallet once the basic runs out... and that has got me quite nervous. That may affect the price. I'm not sure.

The price sounds about right for a Base/Sport RAV4 but make sure it has the Tow Prep Package and the RAV needs be checked thoroughly especially if not buying from Toyota. As usual, the first thing I would look for mechanically is the famous tranny whine and other wear items (wheel condition, suspension, rust in buying from snow area,...). AWD, leather, Navigation, Auto Climate Control, ... will be a bit more.

Some of them might be rentals too. So check the history. Watch out for those additional dealer fees even on used cars.

Here's one I like. It has Navigation but no Bluetooth. I prefer having integrated BT and would willingly give up the navigation. Does not seem to have Tow Prep.

Is the famous whine something that comes on after so many miles? Does it come and go? Can it be detected pretty easy?

Actually, it seems to get worse with time. For that mileage, you should be able to hear it easily. Some said that they did not hear on their test drive but only after taking the car home
If you do a quick search on the forum, you will what others have to say about it.
e.g. Properly identifying transmission whine

If inspecting a V6 and you don't know whether or not it has the Tow Prep package (code "TO") I think the quickest way to tell is whether or not the fuse box has a 140 Amp fuse for the alternator. If it does, then it has the tow prep package. If it only has a 120 Amp fuse, then it does not have the tow prep package.

This, from JuneBug, includes pictures:

How many amps is my alternator?

You could ask the seller to send a picture of the fuse box lid to verify.

I'm considering trading in my oil burning 07 I4 base. I would like to get a 09+ V6 sport but it's going to cost $8k after it's said and done.

Welcome to upgrade world! I'm paying even more for my I4 to V6 switch cuz I want a low mileage 09 Limited. I just thank God I don't have any kids in the nest or I'd never be able to do it.

I hear that, I have just one more to put through college, thankfully grandma is helping with payments and my daughter has a part time job. I am looking at an 09 and 10 myself. I saw an 08 limited at a good price with 38,000 miles. I don't know if I want to go that far back, kind of wanted to stay between 2009 - 2012
