RAV4 Cargo Area (L*W*H)?

Hi!
We're looking at buying a new RAV4 but want to make sure the cargo area is large enough for things we want to carry.
So we took the car out for a test drive, it's a dream.
But in all the excitement we didn't get the dimensions of the Cargo Area.
Can someone help me out?

Thanks 8)

I know the distance between the wheel wells is about 43" wide. It's perfect for two side-by-side SUV crates.

8) Thanks! And I guess the width between the back of the seat and the door is at last 23"?

We're trying to find out if a folded large pram can fit in the cargo area.

Are you planning on folding down the second row seats or not? Regardless, you'll have more than 23". If you look in my album, you'll see my second row seats pretty much stay down for the dog crates. I almost didn't need to fold down the seats for the crates. The crates are 36" long. BTW, I can get a third crate in sideways between the front row seats and the cargo crates. As far as the height goes, the crates in the cargo area are 26" high. The room in the back of my RAV4 is so much better than the cargo room in the back of DH's 2006 CRV. In fact, I don't even like to ride or drive the CRV anymore. It feels so outdated as compared to my RAV!

72" x 43" x 32"
Length x Width x Height

(With the seats folded down ofcourse)

That's what I measured. Been moving alot of stuff lately, my 56" DLP LED tv I bought last night fit in there just well

Without the seats folded down, you can still move the rear seats forward to get more room..

The very best solution is to actually try it out at the dealer! When we were shopping for a new trucklet, we carried my daughter's cello around everywhere, and loaded it into each test vehicle (with the sales person's permission). That quickly told us which ones would work, and which would be tight, and which wouldn't work at all.

BTW, a cello will fit in nicely, straight in the center with the arm rest folded down, with the seats moved forward an inch. That allows you to carry two rear passengers, one on each side. Try that in other vehicles with a 60/40 split!

In my wifes '06 Limited, without the 3rd row seat, my "trunk" measurements are:
With back seat up = 37" deep x 42" width x 37" height
With back seat down = 70" deep x 34" height (on seat)
Exterior roof = 72" deep x 48" width (with no overhang)

Great thanks. We're not really planning on folding down the second row of seats. But I think the second row of seats can be moved just a bit anyway - to give that bit more storage. I think we're going to be fine.

Totally agree on the handling / ride of the CRV as opposed to the RAV. Night and day. The RAV is far more 'comfortable' to drive.

8) Perfect. Lot's of room. Just what I was after. Thanks!

during my most recent auto show, I have been carrying around a tape measure and have been measuring the cargo areas of SUV, CUVs, with the back seats still in place...

strangely... I have only found two vehicles which can fit my dog crate the way I wanted to... i.e. crate door facing the back so that my dog can just jump right into the crate... and the two vehicles were... Rav4 and the XC70

I am very surprised that the cargo area of the Rav4 is actually deeper than others such as the new Highlander, MDX, etc...
