Rav4 Made in Japan?

New poster here, wife and I are starting to shop for a RAV4, most likely to buy late in the 2009 model year run to hopefully get a better deal and also have the funds ready.

I thought all Rav4's were made in Japan? We're here in the Seattle area. I know I can look at the window sticker.

I'm thinking about searching for the one we want through an autobroker like CarsDirect.com. Anyone have any experience with them or can recommend a different one?

Definitely getting the 4cyl engine and no extras like sunroof, etc. Just the basic 4x4 Rav4 is good for us!

Thanks,

Dave

I believe 09's are split between Japan and Canada. RAV4's were made in Japan from beginning up through 08, then sometime in late 08 I believe the Canadian factory came online.

Right. RAV4s started rolling off the line in Woodstock, Ontario in November, so if you must have one made in Japan, don't delay.

I've heard the "Canadian" built RAVs are currently ONLY for the "Canadian" market. All "USA" RAVs are still coming from Japan.

Toyota is not selling that many RAVs in Canada. Some of them must be going to the U.S.

I bought my 2009 RAV4 back in October. I paid $250 over invoice by going through the Costco Auto Buying Program.

If you are a Costco member, it's a good benefit. No haggle and no hassle.

Whether you go through Toyota of Seattle, Toyota of Lake City or Michael's Toyota in Bellevue, you should be able to get the same Costco pricing.

I bought mine through Rodland Toyota in Everett. The RAV4 I wanted (Blizzard Pearl Color, Grey Interior, V6 4WD Limited) was not in stock at Rodland Toyota. So my salesman at Rodland Toyota was able to get one which was originally ordered by Michael's Toyota in Bellevue to be re-allocated to him while it was still on the boat from Japan.

Costco may be good when the demand is high, but in this climate, I'm betting you can get your RAV4 under invoice.

Try to call several dealerships first so you get some idea. Try Autobrag.com. Also good source, Costco, Edmunds.com, KBB.com and Ebay. Good Luck

Yeah... but exactly how many RAVs are being built at the new Woodstock plant http://lfpress.ca/newsstand/News/Loc...59476-sun.html Maybe they are building only enough for the Canadian market at this time I did read this somewhere... but can't find the source right now
