Hi everyone,

Which model would you buy, the 2009 or 2010 if you are to buy a Rav4 now? Please also share the reason. Thanks!

2910. It will ALWAYS be worth more than a comparative 2009.

Good Luck...

I went to Edmunds and plugged in for 2004 and 2005 AWD.

Using the middle "private party" price
$11,318 for the 2004
$12,720 for the 2005

A difference of $1,402.00
They did not ask about mileage and condition as far as I went, so they may have been assuming more miles for the 2004. So if you plan to sell in 5 years, that might be a reasonable estimate of the difference. Now if you could get the 2009 for $2000 less, then you would come out ahead financially. If you plan to keep the car for a longer or shorter period, that could affect the math.

I chose 2004 and 2005 as being representative years for 4.2 as 2009 and 2010 might be for the 4.3s.

2009 for me because I got the Sport version. In Canada, the 09 Sport had the backup camera, but the 2010 doesn't. However, if I was getting a Limited, then I'd get the 2010.

Today I am picking up my 2009 (base model). For me it was about money, I got a better deal on the 09 versus the 2010. Downside is that I did not have as much of a choice of colors, I went with white. I think since there is not a material difference between the two years, it is a coin toss. If they have the color you are looking for, you should be able to get a better deal on the 09.

Are you able to share where you heard or read of a 2009 vs 2010 comparison test?

If you can get a super deal on an '09 it may well offset the small amount lost in the future when trading/selling an '09 vs a '10.

I bought the last '08 from a dealer in Jan. of '09. After a bit of work I got invoice minus $1000 and full book on my trade. They used KBB to book the trade but missed a few things which I showed them on the boss's computer. They upped the trade value, then I made them an offer out the door. They took it glad to get the '08 off the books. If you get a deal like that then future sale/trade value is not so important because you saved so much on the front end.

oh gush, it's tested better because it's longer on the market, isn't it? so you know
what to expect already.

That doesn't make any sense. So you're saying the 2009 tested better than the 2010 because it's been on the marked longer?
For some reason i thought you had some data to back up your statement instead you're giving us fuzzy logic.[/list]
