When does the new bodystyle come out?

I'm mulling over the decision to buy a new RAV4, but it'll quickly look old. When does the new bodystyle come out? Or will this one continue through 2012? I was disappointed when the EV used the current body.

Going by Toyota's previous pair of 5-year RAV4 lifecycles, by all accounts, 2011 should have been a major new model year. One can only imagine that Toyota is milking another year or two out of the "RAV4.3" because it's still selling well and makes for a better return on investment for for its R&D costs.

For the EV to be based on a whole new body style would have required Toyota to pair up with Tesla much sooner in the development cycle. Who knows, when the RAV4.4 shows up in a year or two (hopefully not any more than that), maybe they'll have gotten further into its engineering cycle to accommodate.

By Toyota's own admission, a RAV4 hybrid should be on tap and i'd fully expect another EV version as well. Unfortunately, since the latest RAV4 EV is a "2012", they'd have to leave that one on the market for more than a year before it's replaced. Then again, the Tesla mashup is more of a design study in what they can do and isn't destined for high volume production.

My two cents.

Any rumor on when it might come out? My dealer seems VERY eager to sell me a RAV before Christmas. Maybe there'll be a new model by spring, as an early 2012.

So i assume it should get released second half of 2011 so they have enough time to sell off the 2010 stock by end of fiscal?

This is very strange to me because here is is end of Feb/2011 and there are a ton of 2011 Rav4s available locally and yet they absolutely do not appear to have taken any refresh design like that first link you put there indicated (it was written 11 months ago, though).

Or am I blind and it did get refreshed? Sure looks the same to me, though.

That was for the European RAV. I forget which member here it was, but they had pic of their RAV which did indeed look like this.

I too am considering a new Rav4. Here in the UK We mostly choose the Diesel variety which I believe is not widely available in the US ??. We choose this option for the increased MPG.

I currently have a 2006 T180 which is the 2.2 Diesel with the higher output engine at 180BHP.
The T180 was the range topper with all the options including an electric sunroof as standard on this model.
I would like to buy a new car now. But it seems foolish not to wait until the new model comes out next Year... Hopefully Toyota will see fit to offer a sunroof on the new model as its not an option on the new cars from the Dealers today..

Are there any pictures or artists impressions of the upcoming new model ?

I feel this model is overdue now and may end up buying an alternative vehicle as My wife who is disabled often finds the clutch a little difficult so We need an automatic transmission next time around....

My T180.

2012 gas powered model will be similar to the 2011, the big revamp is scheduled for 2013 model:

Next generation Toyota Rav 4 will be longer but reduce to single model.(here is first reveal spyshots) | SUZUKI FAN

And not sure how real this is, but here it is nevertheless:
