2011 Rear Tire Delete ??

I think I read that the 2011 you can get with the rear tire on the rear door or not. I also believe if you get no rear tire you have to get the option with Run-Flat tires. That would mean you would ALWAYS have to buy the Run-Flat tires as replacements.
Are they very expensive ?
And is what i have read true ??

I haven't heard anything, but I will surely be pissed if Toyota were to eliminate the tire on the rear door. For those who whine about the current design, I say buy a girlie CRV with a four banger and a dopey donut taking up interior space. Don't push Toyota to make the RAV a Honda CRV clone. (o.k. I feel better after getting that out )

I like all the benefits of the rear door tire and don't mind the few problems associated with a full-size spare on the horizontally opening rear door.

Make sure you can deal with the ride. There are a LOT of questions here asking how to soften the Sport ride (a bit late after purchase, eh?), some have run flats, some do not.

The "Appearance package" option has runflats and no rear door carrier. It has a number of other upgrade features, and was available in 2010, maybe 2009 as well.

Well everybody has there own opinion, there has to be a better way then having and ugly spare tire hanging on the back door. Is that so much to ask ?? Selling my 2007 to buy a 2011 that looks the same really doesn't turn me on, some styling changes are over due. But the Rav4 is still a great car and hard to beat.

I like the look without the rear tire. The run flats does ride a bit rougher and definitely can feel even jarring over tar strips.

The main thing I heard from the dealership I visited is that the 4cyl can now get the SAP package. This may mean it is no longer limited to V6 sport.
