Curb Weight

I just wanted to put this information out there since I weighed my RAV4 recently at the chemical plant I work at, on an ISO certified scale.

The car is a 2010 3.5ltr RAV4 V6 AWD Sport. It had 3/4 of a tank of gas in it. The wheels and muffler are lighter than stock. I do not know how much lighter the intake parts are than stock.

The RAV4 weighed in at exactly 3440lbs, without me in it. Just some food for thought.

Wow. That's light. I thought the curb weight of an AWD V6 limited was about 3660 pounds, putting our base model at about 3600 pounds.

The bad thing is that the online calculators for quarter mile times will now show a lower horsepower output. . .

That's interesting. Did you know that the 2011 BMW X3 xDrive35i weighs in at 4196 lbs yet will do 0-60 mph in 5.6 seconds?

They are expensive, but the power must be awesome for a small SUV. I-6 with turbo and can get 26 mpg.

And in the non-luxury CUV market, the Rav's previously unrivaled accelerative capability has been superceded by a Kia:

2011 Kia Sportage SX Turbo AWD Road Test - Review - Car and Driver

Being a turbo, a little reprogramming to allow a couple extra PSI and you have even a quicker CUV.

By the way, Dinan and Vishnu offer reprogramming for the motor in the X3 to bring its output up to 380 HP. Wow!

Don't knock your rides guys! Please don't forget that a simple intake and exhaust modification as well as a lighter wheels can have your RAV4 V6 doing 0-60mph in 5.3 -5.5 seconds as well (On a 35F - 40F day). 5.3 - 5.5 seconds on an N/A V6 (Non-turbocharged) CUV is something I still haven't seen yet. You are driving that machine right now.

Oh...and depending on the Kia's reliability and depreciation, I may be trading in the RAV4 V6 for one next year. I will be on the fence and keep reading up about it in the forums. Some intake, exhaust, turbo modifications will make things very interesting in that ride. I love to have fun in my vehicles. I like how it looks (I like different). Will see!
