I have thought about changing the horn the first day I got my RAV. I think the stock horn sounds like a weenie. I may consider a new horn - it doesn't look too painful to replace. Good post.

I guess I could use some other models horn. This week, during my commute, I may work on getting honked at so I can hear different vehicles horns and maybe do some comparisons. lol.

Default Fiamm horn

I'm well over do for a horn upgrade. I went over to Amazon to look up the Fiamm horn line-up. Looks like these two models will work well together:
Fiamm 72112 and Fiamm 72102.

I'm curious if I'll need a relay to give it enough juice. (HELLA 003510087 30 Amp). Any thoughts?

Those are the same FIAMM Freeway blaster horns I used. The stock wiring and relay seam to work fine. But, I am not one to just leave my fist layed into the horn when I get angry at another driver. Too much road rage and crazy people where I live, not worth risking my life. I want to be heard, not shot!

Since the Toyota horn is not so loud and there is a pair, I might want to change just one horn. Keep one loud and one ... anemic!

Which one should I order or should I really change both?

When you honk, are both horns used at the same time or is one used for honking and another for giving beeps e.g. when you lock the doors. If possible, I want to keep the door locking sounds low (don't want to wake up the kids when I come home late)

Train Horns & Train Horn Kits: Loudest Horns Available

And an install on a RAV4: http://www.hornblasters.com/installs/set/?wesleysrav4

A guy in town has train horns. Since we do have trains running through town, it's damned scarey when he uses them.

That would sound very bad. You want to change both horns, one has a low tone and the other a high tone. I recommend the FIAMM El Grande horns, they are loud, made in the USA and around 20 bucks.

Yes, when you honk, both horns sound simultaneously. The door lock beeper is a totally separate unit.

Thanks JuneBug. It is a better deal than buying the Freeway Blasters separately. I suppose it is still plug and play and fits in the default location.
Should I remove the red housings or are they facing the radiator? I don't want to make them visible from outside.

They were plug and play for me. Just be careful not to let them rub against the A/C condenser. The red plastic housings can be easily removed.

I followed your advice and things went smoothly. However, I am not sure if it's just me but these horns don't seem much louder than the one on the RAV The FIAMM El Grande definitely have a different tone. My remote starter uses the horns when locking/unlocking. So that sound has changed too. I also did NOT use the relay hhat came with the package.

I will test it tomorrow as I drive to work.

BTW, my old horns had the following markings:
. MR-FH-03 MARUKO SM-70 E13 000030
. MR-FL-03 MARUKO SM-70 E13 000030
