remote start question

Hey all,
I want to install a remote start in my 2011 Rav4, any recommendations?
I am about to buy this one (Toyota part# PT398-42110 - Remote Engine Start - Remote Engine Start - The VIP Remote Engine Sta... )

What do you guys think? I saw a youtube video of installing a remote start, they were burning off an existing wire, and soddering on another. Wont that void the warranty?

I'm also planing on puting a remote starter om my 2011 rav4, but I called a few places.and their tellin me I need a bypass and a relay and tellin me its $180 in parts and that I should NOT try it myself. Then they tell me thet want $400+ if I buy theirs and have them instal.

I've never installed a remote starter. I have done lots of sound systems and I'm not color blind. Should I attempt an install?

Toyota dealers in my city outsource remote starts to 3rd party installers (non Toyota remote start systems). It's a known fact they are tapping into wires and soldering, etc. No mention of voiding warranty, especially since the Toyota dealers are the ones outsourcing the work.

Installing can take a long time, especially if you are first timer. You have to know your wiring on your car, and wiring coming from the remote start module, by-pass module, etc. My installer friend did mine in 1.5 hours, but he is a pro and knows all the wiring for different cars in his head. A newbie could take a full day and if you screw something up, be prepared for a lot of troubleshooting.

I have a Compustar Pro Remote Start installed on my 07. The main benefit over OEM is range.
