How long did your Smart Key Battery Last?

Hey Guys,

My car just turned 2 years old and I'm wondering if I should replace the batteries (manual says 1-2 years of battery life) or did you guys get an extra year or two out of them? Thanks!

We sold our 5 year old Rav with 88,000 miles on it and the battery was working fine.

And your 5 year old RAV had the Smart Key with push button start on the dash? That feature didn't appear in the US until the 2009 Limited.

I'm at about 2 years now and not showing signs of the battery dying. You'll be able to tell when the doors don't lock and unlock that reliably with the sensors. If it does get low you just hold the key up to the button when you go to start it and that should get it going.

Ours just died after 2 yrs. These batteries are dirt cheap (bought 2 for $2.50 shipped on eBay) and they are very easy to replace.

Thanks for the advice. I just got a package of 5 batteries on Amazon for $5.50! I just changed both the main and backup Smart Keys - very easy.

I had not even thought about having to change the remote batteries until I read this and the other mentioned thread. My original batteres were about 2 1/2 years old and still worked fine, but I bought some Panasonic CR1632 batteries on ebay and replaced both old batteries in just a few minutes.
