Can I update GPS?

Have a 2010 Rav4 with factory GPS, maps are not detailed like my Garmin. Is there a way to update them?

Yes, from Toyota.

Ps. Don't forget to check Ebay.

The dealer sells an update DVD. The last time I checked it was like $169. After purchase, you would eject the current DVD (which is in there all the time) and insert the new one. Update complete. I do not believe the detail or format of the maps changes with the update. Only POIs and road data are updated. I believe map data is provided by the same vendor that Garmin uses. Obviously Garmin has a much nicer user interface.

I updated the navigation disk on my 2010 from version 9.1 to version 11.1 last fall. The disk is part number 86271-GENX5-11. The cost was $169 from the dealer. Easy to update. Just eject your old disk and install the new disk. It took the system a couple of minutes to update.

The new disk has updated POIs and a few new roads.

Your overall 'look and feel' won't change with a map disc update, just a FYI
