I thought I read somewhere that the computer stops the V6 RAV4 from going faster than 135 MPH because the stock tires are "H" rated, which I think officially has a 130 MPH maximum.

I don't know how fast it would go with that much power if it weren't being held back on a leash.

Car and Driver tested one in one of their side articles (I'll have find it again, to get the issue number) - though it was a moot point, as it was not to be sold in North America in that configuration (V6 + 6-speed). But the performance was sparkling - under 5.5 seconds for 0-60MPH - low to mid 14's in the 1/4 mile, trapping over 100MPH - top speed at 140MPH. Nothing else in the Toyota stable, for that model year, could touch it.

I'd like to read that article but major googling yielded nothing. It had to have been a one off car since it was never offered anywhere.

I never had my hood flap. How strong was that headwind? 50 mph?

Nope, 20-25 MPH will do it and I still hate it.

RT: I don't ever get that effect. I seem to remember that there are some adjustable screws with rubber bumpers under the hood, have you looked into that?

hi to all, I am new to this forum. all though I have been following some subjects since last feb. thought it was time to sign in. yes the hood has adjustment bumpers that should settle the dancing hood.
I bought a 2009 sport in march and agree this is a rocket! had a 67 camaro built that did little better than this . it is dam fun to drive

I'm driving pretty cautiously and defensively these days...especially with my child on board. Seems like there are accidents everywhere. But it's awfully nice to feel that power when I really want it. Great vehicle. Too bad Toyota went and ruint it all.
