I just had a family member with a 2011 Civic that was damaged quite extensively, they said it was close to being written off, but not enough. He had his lawyer send a letter to the insurance company saying they would sue for diminished value....the insurance company settled out of court. He had the car repaired, plus the money for the depreciation of the vehicle. So sad to see such a nice Rav get torn up like that...best of luck...

I went over to body shop today. The center post between the doors had to be cut out and replaced. As a person who doesn't know that much about auto body work, it would seem like that is better than that video we just saw for the doors closing correctly and all that

Depends on many factors.
Who the insurer is?
Do you get to pick ur own shop to fix it?
Does the shop have time to fix it?
Will they fix with Chinese or original OEM parts?

I once had someone hit me and the car was damaged badly but probably repairable. I wanted it totaled. My insurance company wanted me to take it to their shop of choice which that means they put aftermarket parts and do quick job but crapy. In my contract policy I had the right to pick my own shop. I made sure I took it to the most expensive shop and had a talk with the owner, I also demanded for OEM parts only
