Default remote starter recomendations for a 2012

We want a remote starter added to our Rav, the simpler the better. We don't need an alarm or anything else with it necessarily. I hear the Toy. version shuts the engine down when you unlock the doors. I think that would be a deal beaker for me. I think I would install it myself if I had iron clad instructions, we live in the boonies and that service is hard to come by. Otherwise we will take a road trip. We have the base model Rav, #4436a , no push button start anyway.
Did anyone out there do their own in a weekend or less?
Did anyone pay less than $400. for a pro install?

I think you could get an alarm plus remote start put in for $400. Note that you will get the choice of giving up a key that will have the keyhole part cut off, or buying a module (about $70) that satisfies the ECM security to start the engine.

I would look for an alarm and audio installation shop near car dealers who does a fair amount of work for dealers. http://www.anthonysautoelectronics.com/ says "Let us install a Remote Car Starter into your vehicle with a 1000ft of Range and two remotes and a lifetime warranty, and Never Get Into A Freezing Car Again. With Prices starting at 179.99 installed." Best Buy will install too. http://www.bestbuy.com/site/searchpa...egories&ks=960

Note that you will have an extra dongle that will dangle onto your right knee.
