Strange Vibration Sound from Rear

I sometimes hear a loud vibration sound from the rear of my 2007 Rav4. It only happens on city roads, no highway. It will only last for a few seconds. I believe it occurs when I am driving over a part of the road that has a few bumps. It sounds very loud and resonates the entire vehicle. Any idea on what causes this? Could it be the rear wheel cover?

Have you read this thread? Toyota recalling 760,000 RAV4's due to crash risk If not, check it out. It could be the source of your problem.

Very touigh if not impossible to advice on road nosies in this environment, get it on a lift and look for loose exhaust or suspension components.

I had the similar issue on my 2007 RAV4 as well and it turns out to be car jack not sitting correctly was loose. I wrapped the jack with an old towel and placed it back securely in its compartment and that fixed the vibration sound.

I had the rear suspension bar recall issue fixed this past weekend. I will have to try the car jack. The noise is almost like a loud buzzing. Thanks all.
