Hi folks,
My dealer is offering the WS ATF at $5.99/qt!!! Really freakn cheap, but im curious as to why. I asked if they knew when it was packed and just got a blank look. However, i did notice on the front label it is copyrighted @ 2002 (see ebay for pictures of label). Im not sure whether i should use that as a packing year, but typically that year stamped on a product matches closely the packing year. So how can determine if this ATF is in good condition? All 6 qts that i bought are sealed and thr labels look fairly new, but that 2002 throws me off. BTW the same applies to the duragloss products (total performance polish and bonding agent) that i recently received from autogeek; they are copyrighted 2001. |

I'd say that has to do with the label and name of the products. It has nothing to do with production date whatsoever.

I just bought the some @ $9 per quart. Also saw the 2002 and wondered if that old. But, if it's sealed, I will use it. Oils don't go bad if sealed from oxygen and moisture.

Thanks folks its what i thought, but your replies put me mind at ease. I too received a BS explanation regarding the temperature of the oil before draining and refilling, almost made it seem as though they did not want to sell it to me. Constantly asked if i had a scanner and i said yes i even have the techstream. Boy did that raise some eyebrows. Anyways will drain and fill ATF, drain both transfer case and rear diff, as well as polish and seal the paint sometime this week before moving to OR.

A side note - not all plastic bottles keep oxygen out. Many are permeable to oxygen. We photographers find that with cheap, knock-off plastic chemistry storage bottles. |

I got mine for $7 a liter. So it is not super expensive anyway.
