I can't say with 100% certainty, as I haven't tried it with my second key, but it seems to me as if you're reprogramming the car, not the specific key being used at the time.

Mostly I suspect this because it's the car that acknowleges the signal, not the key itself (e.g. by flashing its LED).

You are correct, I just did it. This is great. I thought that this was one of those programming changes you had to pay the dealer to do. I'm sure this is going to make this car easier to live with.

Thanks DVS.

Our dealership refuses to cut any key bought elsewhere. Then most locksmiths refuse to cut them because they don't have the right tooling or they don't want to be responsible for the key if the cut is bad.

A contact told me to go see a certain local locksmith who cuts the keys for the dealership, the locksmith had already refused me before saying he never cuts expensive car keys...

So i have two inexpensive new uncut car keys and i don't want to pay $350 CDN (It's the price of a car payment) for an OEM key.

This is the kind of situation where a dealership can bend the rules to give good service knowing people are'nt going to pay such an extreme price for a key. For heaven sakes GM sells them 35$

These kind of rip offs are what discourage me from buying a product.

As an update I purchased a fob/key from a dealer. I can advise to call all in your area. One quoted me OVER $600 !!. My price was about half that at a Toyota Dealer.
Thanx all.
