New 2009 Rav4 Owner

Hey guys, I recently purchased a 2009 Rav4 base. One question, I don't have the "auto" option for my headlights, so why do I have a light sensor on the dash? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I have that sensor on my dash too (2010). I haven't noticed, but is it possible that it adjusts the dash lights (auto dims and brightens)?

Welcome to RAV4World! There are 2 spots for sensors on the dash. My '08 Limited has one for the automatic climate control system and a blank plug in the other spot. The '09 Limited added a second light sensor for the auto on/off headlights. Only the Limited has these features. However, all 2006- RAV4's have auto OFF headlights. If you leave the lights on and shut all the doors, the headlights will go off in about 30 seconds.

So what's the sensor for my base model 2010 for? I don't have auto climate control.

Are you sure it's a photosensor and not just a blank plug?

I have a 2010 Base also and I just assumed it was a blank.

If so there are two plugs and both look different. One is raised and bubble like and the other is inset. They are up on the left side of the dash in the window.

I was wondering the same thing. I've had my base model for a few weeks and have noticed the sensor spot up there. Maybe I'll remember to check it out when I go home later.

I'd say one is a plug and non functional. I'm guessing it was less expensive to make all the dashes the same but fill some with a blank plug that didn't get that particular sensor. I've had other vehicles, under the top model, that did the same.
