Default Replacing front windshield

Well the other day we had a good size rock fly up and hit our windshield and give it a nice long crack. So needless to say we are going to replace it. What I was hoping all of you could help me with is if any of you have yours replaced, how much did it cost on average? I know that there will be differences in price based on location but I think we can get a nice average from everyone. So, what's the damage to my wallet?

Do you have comprehensive insurance? If so, maybe zero. Otherwise maybe $300 from a glass company. Search will show posts.

Close to $900.00 here in Canada as we have the heated wiper area and sides.

I've had two replaced right in our driveway. One, an '03 Corolla, the other an '04 Accord. Both were less than $200 each. Insurance had $250 deduct so it turned out much cheaper to pay cash out of pocket at a discounted rate. No optical (or any) problems with either one. Both were done by Safelite.

That is really cheap for a Canadian standard of pricing ! LOL
Is that a glass shop or a toyota dealer ? Mine was quoted $450 by a dealer here in the Greater Toronto Area.
Anybody here heard of the brand "Benson" ? Yes that is the windshield brand that they carry for the RAV with the heated base.

I got a quote of $267 + GST from my friendly neighborhood Toyota dealership about 2 weeks ago. I don't know what brand they would have installed.

I've decided that I'm going to try to hold off on replacing the windshield until road gravel season is over. I consider windshields to be consumable and expect to replace them every so often, but to change it now is just tempting fate, given that we're not that far into winter.

A friend of mine got water-balooned; Anyhow very old rav, 3rd party glass (pilkington?) 120 euro in Latvia same day. Result is better than was before.
Dealership probably has to use authentic Toyota glass, that would drive price up.
Any extra features would drive price up too.
Newer car means 3rd party might not be available yet and you'd want the job done by professionals, yet higher price.
