I have the exact same issue with my silver 2010. I doubt it's grease or lubricant. It's BLACK and it's runs directly below my BLACK mirrors & BLACK door handles. When I wash my Rav it goes away.

You are probably right....coming from the seal....no, it does not smell or feel greasy.
Never had this 'issue' on any previous vehicles though.

I only have to look at my neighbor's 2009 white Celica to know that the problem isn't just with RAV4s. Same streaks.

2011 SAP, white. Same offending streak. Live in Ont, rain past few weeks. The black streak is similar to the black crap spray (water mist) from puddles and from the 100% humidity condensing and non condensing at temperatures hovering freezing, 0C 32 F.

Car warms up humidity levels drop, water vapor and water liquid fall out of the dirty mixture and you are left with the non-moving dry dust and crap.

Dirt and dust are in with the water liquid from rain and in with the water vapor all around us and in the water puddles we drive through.

Look at the rear door carefully, it is far worse than the side doors and mirror/handle because the side has air deflections from movement and the rear has a partial vacuum while the car moves. Both sides and rear get crap on them differently from the front because of splashing, air deflections and vacuum. But all areas of the car get dirty.

Our atmospheric envelope is filthy, we breathe this **** in, look at your air filters, pick your nose...all kinds of dirt. When the moisture is out of the end product, the end product is the dirt but in very small particle size and with enough particles you see it and feel it in your nose for example.

Remember dirt in small particle size is very abrasive, so wash it off with a lubricant, water. Wiping dry, scratches the already iffy paint job.

Can you say air pollution?

But I don't have any issues.
Is Downtown Ottawa less polluted? Anyone in Ottawa having this issue?

Uh, the Celica hasn't been sold in N. America since the 2005 model year.
