I bought my 2nd rav4 yesterday- I have been patiently waiting for the exact
model/features/price/color and it showed up and it bought it yesterday and I acted quick and all went well. 2009 sport magnetic gray metallic/appearance package/ T.O. V6 AWD 29K miles -looks new $19500 I will post an ad for my 04' rav4 tomorrow at work- It will sell quick-I hope.. now to my question that I need to verify b4 I act incorrectly. Is it OK to buy regular tires to replace the worn out OEM run flats that are on it now. By all searching on the web, it looks like yes is the correct answer but I want someone that has done (or knows for sure) it to tell me this is OK. I have read nothing but nightmares about the rf's. I am looking at the CS4 touring H/V by Cooper in 225/60R/18 28.6" O.D that is .4" O.D larger than the OEM cement tire. I have that tire on my rav4/2 and I love it. Thank you for you replies- Brian in Lancaster, PA other tire suggestions/sizes welcome!! |

Not a problem, several have done the same thing here. You'll need a spare wheel & tire, patch kit & compressor, or a paid AAA membership.

The quick answer is yes. The thorough answer is to verify your rims and bead (the main safety hump of the wheels) are OK. No bends or crimps or smashed areas then buy tires, mount them and balance them or use beads within them.
You'll need a spare! I am surprised your run flats are worn at 29 K what brand were they and how worn are they? |

Don't have (or need) run-flats on the wife's RAV, but my Sienna AWD came with them.
Previous owner had "regular" tires on there when I got it a couple years ago. I have since replaced them with Michelin Harmony tires, I like them. Don't know anything about the Coopers you are looking at. . |

Actually, it's not so much of an overstatement. Although I was aware of them before I bought the car, the RFTs are noisy, ultra-stiff and lose tread quickly; not to mention the price tag to replace them! I plan to switch mine out as soon as there is no tread which doesn't seem too far away at 19k miles.
@OP - You will have no problem switching out the run-flats. I have personally seen it done. The wheels on the SAP are the same that they have used on all the Sports in 4.3 Rav. If you get a 4 cylinder without SAP, you still get the same wheels. Let me know what you go with. I'm assuming you got your Rav at Lancaster Toyota - I worked with Craig and did a good job. |

Yeah, any lingering doubts about the Coopers go out the window when you say you can get them at wholesale, and mounted for only fifteen bucks a piece. |
