those don't look like the normal crossbars, but they should work with a box

I think he is referring to the stock crossbars. They are thinner. Hard to see in this pic, but you get the idea...

You think what I have on top of my RAV are not OEM crossbars? I don't know, maybe the perspective of the photo gives a bit of optical illusion, I don't know? They look the same to me.
I was wondering, if anyone has an idea if these will fit on mine: ![]() Don't know if it's the 4.2 or 4.3 RAV and if that will matter...

The roof rails over here have inboard slots for fitting the factory crossbars. They can be adjusted fore and aft by sliding in these slots. Your crossbars don't appear to have any slots.

OK I see what you mean, I still think (I can check!) that the roof rails I have are OEM and it can be fitted something like this:
![]() ![]() And than a roof box on top of that... Am I reasoning right? I've seen it like this many many times I think?

The aftermarket cross bars you are showing should work fine as long as they mount to the factory rails. The factory cross bars are aluminum and shaped to fit between the rails and not extend beyond. they have the benefit of being very quiet, though probably not as sturdy as aftermarket bars. If you have a fairing in front of your bars (Black plastic spoiler at the front of the rack, you will see them on lots of Yakima/Thule systems), it should aleviate excess noise.

On the European RAV4.3s we don't have the slots for the crossbars (not sure if we used to when the 4.3 first came out, but we don't now).
Swiss's Roofrails are OEM I am positive - mine are exactly the same and the official cross-bar 'solution' from Toyota is to have bars that clamp on the rails - they work great and a major benefit is you are not locked into a specific vehicle - I have used my Thule ones on the RAV4.2, Nissan Qashqai (Rogue to you Americans Then stick whatever you want on top - I got mine to use with a Thule Roofbox

Finally bought some crossbars from Toyota. These are OEM Land Cruiser / RAV4 crossbars that get mounted on the roof rails.
These are some serious bars that you can put whatever you like, box, skis... ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Payload on these babies is 100 kilo ( 220 pounds! ) for the RAV4!!!
