Default How to get rid of rust on steel wheels?

I have 2006 Rav4, I used to park my SUV in the uncovered parking for the first few years exposing it to rain & show. I believe that my rav4 underbody might have rust on many parts, especially its visible on the steel wheels. Is there any magic product that can clean the rust off these wheels and make it look better?

I came across this free sample (pay postage) of a chemical that converts rust to an inert substance. They have larger sizes available to purchase. Other than that a wire wheel, primer, and paint will work.

Free Sample of Corroseal Rust Converter

A Google search reveals that there are numerous products available which claim to remove rust, including some which users can make themselves. Has anyone used any rust removal product which has worked by actually removing all of the rust without damaging the native underlying metal?

Even a rust converter would need to be painted. The converted rust is usually porous and you would need a barrier (aka paint) to prevent moisture from reach penetrating the converted rust.

I have used POR-15 successfully but I wish the treatment was not so painful. It takes hours to cure and needs 2 coats and another layer of top coat.

It would be good if somebody also identified a good matching touch-up paint to go over the rust converter or POR-15.

Any touch paint you would normally use can go over POR-15.
The por-15 does not need to be topcoated if it is hidden from UV rays.

I was interested in a well-matching topcoat. Not just any gray touch-up paint will match.

Are you looking for paint your car or the steel rims or chassis under body?
