I have a damaged housing (black part) on the driver side view mirror (2011 RAV4 Limited). See attached photos. The turn signal and mirror still works fine but it's only the black housing that is damaged. What are my options? I don't want to replace the entire side view mirror assembly. Is there a way for me to purchase only the black housing and is it relatively easy to replace it myself. I am pretty good with disassembling and assembling parts.
I live in Toronto. Where can I purchase this component? How do I find the part number? Thanks. |

From what I've seen on parts websites (I was thinking about replacing the mirrors on my Base model with Limited mirrors) RAV4 mirrors are sold as complete assemblies rather than by individual components. It might be possible to find a used one from a salvage yard, and to have it repainted if necessary. If necessary to buy new, this is an example of a presumably U.S.-based company's web site (they also display a Canadian flag) offerings and prices. REPLACEŽ - Toyota RAV4 2009-2010 Side Door Mirrors

You can get a whole set for $160 off ebay or 1 side for about $90.

You also try these covers. If you don't like chrome, you could paint it. I think they go on top of your damaged housing.

Standard Auto Wreckers at Steeles and Sewells showed quite a few on their website from $125 - 175. Always found them quite helpful in getting parts.

As for your question on easy of installation, on my 2004 passenger side the mirror is held by 3 bolts. You pop the inside mirror molding and work from there.
Easy, yes BUT tricky not trying to accidentely drop bolts, then door rattle and possible removal of door panel. Found a diagram on web to do mine thru google search. |

Check car-part.com. You can search for mirror, door for your vehicles year. If you just need to replace the housing, you could just find a mirror from your model year/version, and swap in the colored cover. That way you don't have to look for your specific color.
