HELP!! can't separate lens after baking... - Page 2

I got them apart...turns out they don't use the same glue most headlights use. Also...anyone know how to get off the reflector bowl?? I loosed the headlight adjuster, but there are two more bolts holding it to the assembly and no way to loosen them on the back!!

apparently nobody here has either never done a retrofit for the 2011 limited, or excluded the information that the headlights are permasealed, making it 5x harder to pry open than headlights with butyl. :/

Do a search..I think I recall seeing a thread with a video of someone doing this. It showed the whole baking and prying part but then I stopped watching because I didnt have the balls to do it lol. Good luck.

I did a retrofit on a 2010 limited, but I used aftermarket OEM replica sport headlights for the black chrome housings (they were about $130 for the set), which use the normal black adhesive... I haven't tried to bake the OEM's

I heated my 2011 Sport oem headlights with a heat gun and they separated just fine, the glue/adhesive was a grey color, very sticky stuff when it's hot. My 2011 was Japan built and the oem headlights were also the dark chrome color. I didn't need to remove the reflector because the morimoto projectors fit thru the bulb holes that were already there. Anyways I got a 2012 and didn't feel like doing another retrofit so I bought projector headlights from Europe, they are TYC brand. Very good cut off and good even output.

Where did you get your euro headlamp from? None of the seller from Germany wants to ship oversea.
